This Janmashtami, let’s welcome joy, peace, and Krishna’s blessings into our lives

The Birth of Lord Krishna
Thousands of years ago, in Mathura, there was a cruel king named Kansa. Though powerful, he was feared for his tyranny and injustice. When his sister Devaki was married to Vasudeva, a divine prophecy declared that the eighth child of Devaki would be the cause of Kansa’s downfall.
Terrified, Kansa imprisoned Devaki and Vasudeva, and killed their first seven children one by one. But when the eighth child, Krishna, was born at midnight, miracles unfolded. The prison doors opened on their own, the guards fell into deep sleep, and the chains binding Vasudeva broke apart.
Carrying baby Krishna in a basket, Vasudeva crossed the Yamuna River during a stormy night. The river parted to make way, and the divine serpent Sheshnag spread his hood to protect Krishna from the rain. Vasudeva safely reached Gokul, where he left Krishna with Yashoda and Nanda, exchanging him with their newborn daughter.
When Kansa tried to kill the baby girl, she transformed into the Goddess Durga and warned him that the child destined to destroy him was safe and alive.
Krishna grew up in Gokul, spreading love, joy, and divine wisdom. He later fulfilled the prophecy by defeating Kansa, restoring peace and dharma.
That’s why Janmashtami is celebrated – not only as Krishna’s birth but as the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, and love over hatred.
