Dussehra: A Celebration of Courage and Righteousness

Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, is a festival that celebrates the victory of truth and righteousness. Its origin is connected to two great legends.

In the Ramayana, Lord Rama defeated the demon king Ravana on this day, rescuing Goddess Sita and restoring peace. Ravana, though powerful and wise, was blinded by arrogance and ego. Rama’s victory symbolizes that no matter how strong evil may seem, truth and virtue always prevail.

In another tradition, Dussehra also marks the day Maa Durga defeated the demon Mahishasura after nine days of fierce battle, celebrated as Navratri.

Thus, Dussehra is not just about victory but also about the destruction of negativity and the rise of hope, positivity, and dharma (righteousness).
